Creating Mindset Shift

As you know, the first step to moving toward a high performance plan is to move away from fully insured plans to either a level funded or self-funded chassis. Before getting there, let’s address the mindset shift that needs to happen in order to start down the level funded or self-funded path. People who have experienced a mindset shift think about health care differently, embracing that it’s a manageable, optimizable cost and area of operations, not an uncontrollable external cost. Many people who follow the Health Rosetta movement have experienced this mindset shift, but many have not yet. The process is somewhat qualitative and varies from one individual to the next, but across dozens of organizations, we’ve found three common elements in individuals who have shifted their mindset:

  • I’ve internalized that there is a better way to purchase health care that both improves the quality and cost for both organization and plan members,
  • I believe I can do something to adopt this better way and that it is different than what I’ve done in the past,
  • I’m taking ongoing, proactive action to adopt the Health Rosetta and achieve the Quadruple Aim.

Health Rosetta advisors are given the tools, resources, and strategies to expedite this shift. Once adopted, most organizations typically implement Health Rosetta components over a couple of years in an iterative fashion. This isn’t to say all components can’t be adopted in one year, just that most implement over several.
